Caring for Creation: Our Eco Church Journey
At Holy Trinity, we believe that caring for God’s creation is not just a responsibility—it’s a vital expression of our faith. That’s why we’re proud to be part of Eco Church, a national initiative equipping churches to take meaningful, faith-driven steps toward environmental care and sustainability.
Eco Church provides a clear and supportive framework for action, open to all denominations. Through its structured Eco Church Survey, it encourages practical changes across five key areas of church life:
Worship and Teaching
Buildings and Energy
Land and Nature
Community and Global Engagement
Lifestyle
We’re delighted to share that we’ve already achieved both our Bronze and Silver Eco Church Awards, marking important progress on our journey to becoming a more sustainable and environmentally mindful church.
Working Together: Our Mission Partner, Pop’s Wood
As part of our commitment to creation care, we’re honoured to support the work of our mission partner, Phil Sard, Head Warden of Pop’s Wood Nature Reserves. Phil and his team are transforming small areas of land across the Island into peaceful, thriving woodland spaces where both people and wildlife can flourish.
Pop’s Wood offers a practical, inspiring example of local conservation—complete with picnic spots, squirrel hides, and rich habitats for native species. It’s a place where visitors can relax, reconnect with the natural world, and grow in appreciation for the beauty and balance of God’s creation. We’re proud to stand alongside Phil in protecting and promoting these precious green spaces.
Get Involved
Our Eco Church work is led by Sally Holt and Zoe Swann, who also run Eco-Bees on the first Sunday of every month—a fun and hands-on group that explores sustainability through creativity, reflection, and action.
