Our Incumbent Vacancy & Parish Transition
Stepping into a period of vacancy can feel unsettling, but it is also a quiet, hopeful time for our church family to gather round, reflect on where we are and look forward to where God is leading us next. We are keeping our day-to-day church life running calmly and smoothly while holding this season in prayer trusting in God's timing and guidance for the future of our parish.
This page provides clear, up-to-date information on where we are in the vacancy process, including key dates and please join us in praying for our parish and for our next leader during this time.
If you need anything at all or have any questions while we navigate this transition together, please do get in touch with the churchwardens.
What next for Holy Trinity Church, Bembridge
The PCC has appointed a sub-committee to look at creating a “Parish Profile” for our church. This document will be part of the application pack that prospective candidates will see if they are considering whether our church is for them.
We are approaching this in three phases:
-
Consulting: a listening exercise where we listen to the views of those that our church “touches” in Bembridge.
-
Creating: where we write and design a document to attract the right type of person (our shop window)
-
Communicating: where we send out our document to the Diocese and beyond (our sales pitch).
How can I contribute?
At Holy Trinity:
Our Vision is to be a deeper, vibrant and more loving community in Christ.
Our Purpose is to be disciples who whole-heartedly love God, our world and each other.
As we begin shaping our parish profile, we want to ensure it truly reflects the heart, hopes and experiences of our whole church family. To help us capture what makes our community special and where God might be leading us next, we would love to hear your thoughts. We have created a
short online form with a few key questions to guide your feedback:
-
Up to 3 things our church does well
-
Up to 3 things you would like to change
-
Up to 3 personal characteristics you think our next vicar should have
Whether you have been part of our congregation for decades or joined us more recently, your input is invaluable in helping prospective candidates understand who we are and what we are praying for in our next leader. To complete this form,

We would like to advertise our vacancy at the beginning of January, a time when clergy often consider their next move, after the busy-ness of Advent and Christmas. With this in mind, we need your feedback to be with us by
September 27th at the latest.
